daeun — Privacy Policy

daeun ("daeun", "we", "us") is a Korean Saju (four-pillars) self-understanding and relationship app. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. We built daeun to be privacy-first and account-free: you can use it without signing up, and we do not ask for your name, email, or phone number to create an account.

1. Information we handle

What we do NOT collect: no account, no email/phone for sign-up, no precise (GPS) location, no contacts, no photos, no advertising identifiers. Saju readings are for entertainment and self-reflection, not predictions or professional advice.

2. How we use information

To calculate your Saju chart and compatibility, and to generate readings, daily insights, chats, and consultations.
To keep your coins and subscription accurate and to prevent fraud/abuse (rate limits).
To let you back up and restore your coins/subscription to a new device via a one-time recovery code.
To improve the app (aggregate, optional analytics).

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Service providers

We use a small number of third-party service providers strictly to operate the app. They process data on our behalf under their own terms and security commitments. Some are located outside your country — see the Korean section below for itemized cross-border transfer details (required under Korea's PIPA).

Cloud hosting & storage	Hosting, plus storage of the coin/subscription ledger and short-lived content cache.
Billing & subscription providers	Processing app-store and web purchases/subscriptions. Card details are handled by Google Play or Stripe — we never receive full card details.
Product analytics (optional)	Aggregate usage analytics, only if enabled in the build.

4. Data retention & deletion

On your device: profiles, name, history, and the display copy of your balance live in local storage. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling removes them.
On our server: the coin/subscription record tied to your anonymous device ID is retained while the app is in use. Content cache is short-lived.
Consultations: session transcripts expire after 48 hours. Short memory summaries used across consultations remain until you delete them in the app or request deletion.
Deletion request: because there is no account, contact us with your device ID (shown via the backup-code screen) to delete your server wallet, consultation sessions, and memory records. Uninstalling alone does not delete server records.

5. Children

daeun is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your rights

Depending on your region (e.g., GDPR/EEA, UK, California/CCPA, Korea/PIPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing. Since we hold no account or contact details, most data is on your device and under your control; for server-side records, contact us using the email below.

7. Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
